Biological Research Centre of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences

brcThe Biological Research Centre is the major research institution in life sciences of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and one of the prime scientific establishments in south-eastern Hungary. Since the year 2000 it is a Center of Excellence of the European Union. The development of the project is steered by the BRC, and the implementation of the experimental work and molecular modelling is also done by the LP. The LP conducts general management and financial activity by a designated professional team.
The professional team in the BRC consists of 4 professors (D.Sc.): Cs. Bagyinka, A. Berczi, A. Der and L. Zimanyi, one postdoc: B. Leitgeb, and two PhD students. In addition, the project aims to employ two postdocs and one PhD student. umfThe Victor Babes University of Medicine and Pharmacy Timisoara (PP1) is the major medical university in the western part of Romania. It assures the education of about 500 students/year, and it is competitive also in research, being involved in tens of national and European research and development projects. The PP1 team proposed for this project has extensive experience in biophysical theory and modeling and has already collaborated with members of the LP, although not in the framework of a joint research grant.
The team of experts from PP1 includes 3 professors (G.I. Mihalas, A. Neagu, D. Lungeanu), one Associate Professor (M. Neagu), two Assistant Professors (M. Focsa, O. Munteanu) and one PhD student. Taken together, they published more than 100 papers in peer reviewed journals that totalized a few hundred citations.
